Shalabhasana, or Locust Pose, is a prone backbend in which the body resembles a locust or grasshopper in flight. Practiced lying on the belly, the legs, arms, chest, and head are lifted off the ground, engaging the entire posterior chain.
🧿Key Benefits:
Strengthens the back muscles, especially the lower back
Improves posture by counteracting slouching and spinal compression
Tones the glutes, hamstrings, and calves
Stimulates abdominal organs, aiding digestion
Opens the chest and shoulders, enhancing respiratory function
Builds mental focus and stamina
This posture is particularly beneficial for those who sit for long periods or experience mild back discomfort. As always, modifications may be needed for individuals with back injuries or spinal conditions.
